HOW WE STARTED
Our story began in 2018. Our Expansion Festival co-founder Shoshana Glickman was turning 21, and our founder Aliko was assigned to throw her a birthday party.
And what a birthday party it was.
A birthday party quickly became a festival called Spring into Community.
Located in Duvall, Washington, change-makers, musicians, artists, dancers, and speakers interlinked by friendship, banded together for a weekend of celebration, love, and joy.
This event would, in the next year, become Expansion Festival 2019, where that same group of friends gathered once again to spread their gifts to more of the Pacific Northwest.
Expansion allowed us to put our hearts, lessons, passions, and skills all together in the same place.
Featuring 3 Days of action-packed workshops, stunning performances, killer local musicians, and self growth, Expansion Festival hosted 400 community members on the banks of the Snohomish River.
Expansion allowed both festival-goers and organizers alike to connect to their inner voice, speak their truth, and heal past wounds alongside fellow change makers.
Check out some of the amazing musicians, performers, and presenters featured in Expansion 2019!
"Spring into Community Gathering brought so much joy to my sons and my life, as well as lasting connections formed in just one weekend! The music artists offered danceable sets & a playful environment to dive deeper into community and connection with each other."

Why we do what we do...
We cannot improve the injustices of the world without coming together first. Together, we can transform our world and ourselves.
In order to create a better world, we must commit to lifelong learning. We will not remain stuck in our minds, or bodies, or our relationships
The power of the human mind comes from its ability to imagine a new tomorrow.
We believe that all people have the right to transformation, no matter their socioeconomic standing, race, or identity.
Over and over, we burst from our shells renewed, strengthened, and resilient. Together, we learn ways to rise from our own ashes.
We demand solidarity, accountability, and reformation from both ourselves and the highest offices of this land.
